Valentine craft ideas: How to make your own Valentines Day gifts

When you care enough to send the very best valentines…why not make them yourself? The very crafty Bruce Littlefield, author of Garage Sale America, has lots of ideas to inspire you to make your own valentine gifts.
Here are some easy valentines day ideas for gifts you can make yourself:
* Save the really special leftover ribbon from Christmas, spool it up, and write some love notes on it with a black Sharpie pen. Use a red envelope, leave a bit of ribbon peeking out.
* For a special touch, you can use sentimental items from trips for your valentines. How about using a seashell you found on the beach together to make a fortune cookie valentine? As above, start with a pretty ribbon, write a love letter on it, roll it up and stick in inside a seashell. Leave a bit of ribbon sticking out, and as it unspools, it reveals your love note.
* Fore a valentine craft that keeps on giving, you can make your own valentines in a tissue box. You write on each tissue by opening up the side of the box, write on each one, and stick them back in. Each pop up tissue has an I love you message.
* Or go to the crafts store, get some foam core, decorate around the border with red feathers or something fun, then write on the foam core and you’ve got a big homemade valentine gift.
* Finally, if you’re artsy, go to an art supply store, get a canvas, and paint a personal valentine on it.

Love is in the air and we’ve got our ClevverTV picks for Valentine’s Day up next!
Hello everyone, welcome back to ClevverTV. I’m Joslyn Davis and today we’re talking about the holiday that has everyone’s hearts a’fluttering….ah yes, Valentine’s Day. The big day is quickly approaching and of course everyone who hasn’t gotten those gifts purchased yet, is really starting to stress out. Not to worry though, because up next we’re giving you our ClevverTV Valentine’s Day gift picks.
First up, we’re staying true to tradition. Some might call it super boring but who doesn’t love a cute little teddy bear? But guys, of course we’re upping the anty. Now, you can head over to a great store called Build A Bear where you can create and personalize a bear for the love in your life and dress it up however you want. You can even record a message that goes inside the bear, so when you hug it, the bear talks. Very cute idea that anyone would love, and also very affordable.
Next up, we’re ditching the whole flower idea for something way more modern. Girls love flowers, I know I do, but why not give that special someone an edible arrangement instead. Sounds kind of silly, but seriously these arrangements are made out of fruit and they are so beautiful! Plus, they double as a meal, so you’re killing two birds with one stone. Really, nothing says love like a huge array of apples, oranges, and mangos, right?
Another classic gift that I absolutely love are those little Valentine’s Day candy hearts with messages on them. The Sweethearts candies that we all grew up loving got a big face lift this year. They still have all of the same cute little messages on them, but now they also say stuff like “Tweet Me,” and “Text Me.” We love how the 145-year- old brand is jumping on the social media craze. Did you guys know that the Jonas Brothers actually inspired one of the sweethearts phrases? Yep it’s true. One of the 80 different phrases includes “Love Bug,” which is, as you guys know, one the JB’s biggest hit songs. Also, these little candies are super inexpensive and available almost everywhere.
For those of you guys with a little more cash to spend, why not pick up one of Apple’s new ipod nano’s and then load it up with all of your loved one’s favorite tunes? Also, if you have enough time, Apple will also let you monogram a personal message on the ipod. And if that’s a little to hefty for your budget, go another route and do a mixed CD! Yes, I know, people hardly buy CD’s anymore these days, but it’s a great, thoughtful gift that anyone would enjoy!
And if none of these ideas seem to peak your interest, then just keep it classic and make your boyfriend or girlfriend a cute Valentine’s Day card!
